I’m Sarah, an avid stitcher since 2011. I’m currently living in Japan and have been since 2016. I’ve been lucky enough to live all over the world, including Mexico, The Netherlands, England, and my home country USA. You can find more about me on my Instagram too!
I started stitching as a way to help cope with some of the issues I was going through after living through the Tohoku earthquake in March 2011. Being able to create small works of art with my hands was a really calming experience and I want to share this with others. In addition to cross stitch, I also enjoy other forms of embroidery, sashiko, sewing, and crochet. You can see a selection of my completed works here.
While I do sell patterns and would love for everyone to buy them, I’m also committed to helping stitchers who don’t have the means to buy all the crafting supplies they would like to, so I make sure I update my free patterns as well. I also want to help other designers which is part of the reason I started my YouTube channel which goes over how to use MacStitch/WinStitch!
I love spending time with my family, including my 2 furry babies Panko, the cat, and Jessica, our Miniature Pinscher. We watch a lot of Netflix (mostly the Office and flosstube!), eat tons of food from all different cultures, and also read books from about every genre. I also try and study Japanese everyday.
If you are interested in learning Japanese, learning about some of the less well known places to visit, or want to see more of my writing, please visit my other blog: www.sanewsome.com !
What I do
Pattern Design
I first got MacStitch in 2016 and have been designing patterns ever since. I love playing with different styles of cross stitch from snarked up samplers, to fuller coverage, Japanese inspired pieces, and more.
Blog
I enjoy blogging about cross-stitch and try to cover a wide range of topics here. I include free patterns, reviews of products I’ve tried, how-to’s on finishing or using different stitch types, and the occasional book review or travel bit.
YouTube
As of 2021 I started my YouTube channel. This is focused on helping other designers use MacStitch/WinStitch but I also include some videos on cross stitch projects I’ve done like earrings or laminating pieces.
